UPDATE: Student housing complex pays delinquent taxes to the City of Auburn
AUBURN AL (WTVM) - In a unanimous vote on Tuesday, September 4, city council voted to take legal action against a student housing complex for failing to pay business license taxes for several years.
However, the City Manager's office has confirmed Thursday morning that the student housing complex has provided payment for all delinquent fees including penalties and interest.
At city council, the city's financial department detailed that The Hub Apartments has not paid business license taxes since 2014.
Both City Manager Jim Buston and Finance Director Penny Smith informed council that if the owners did not respond to the city's final notice, the city will withdraw the complex's business license and put a lien on the property.
Since the Hub Apartments has now provided payment to the city, the situation is now resolved.
