COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A GYN cancer support group in Columbus is encouraging people to wear teal on Friday in support of Gynecological Cancer Awareness Month.
Southern Teal was founded in 2012 and consists of volunteers, patients, and family members of patients. The group hosts an annual gala on Sept. 28 to raise funds for their patients and programs.
Southern Teal also partners with Meals on Wheels to provide patients with food and Uber and Lyft to offer rides for patients after treatments.
"It's important because we involve the medical community as well as the community of Columbus, and we raise funds for our patient programs," said Renee Griner, founder of Southern Teal.
