RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) - The Russell County Sheriff's Office has learned of an old scam making its rounds again and wants to warn the public so you can stay alert.

They say that this scam involves receiving a call from someone posing as a sheriff's deputy.

This fake deputy will tell you that you missed a court date and must bring him money in order to avoid arrest.

This is a scam. Be aware that law enforcement agencies will not ask you for money over the phone.
