COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A historic landmark in Columbus is getting a major upgrade.

Rev. Richard Jessie, the Executive Director of Friends of Historic Claflin, stopped by News Leader 9 to share their upcoming community events.

On Sept. 25, the Historic Claflin School will turn 150 and they are inviting the community to come celebrate with them.

A parade will start from New Testament Community Church on Macon Rd. The event will also have a gospel concert, vendors, horseback riding and more.

They will also have several educational events taking place on Sept. 24-25.

Their celebrations all wrap up with a Homecoming Banquet on Sept. 27 featuring guest speaker City Councilman John House.
