Bibb City neighborhood concerns grow over speeding, no road signs in area
(WTVM) - "Somebody is going to get killed eventually," says resident Harry Pynaker.
Pynaker and residents on Wilton Street in Bibb City say the area is family friendly. With Fox Elementary School just two blocks over, children frequently play outside and along the road. But the road its self is dangerous, they say, due to speeding.
"People are flying up and down here at 50 miles an hour," says Pynaker.
Pynaker says he even fears for his young grandchildren when they play out in the yard. He says he'd like to see the city place new signs along Wilton Street.
"I would like to have a couple 'slow down' signs or 'children at play' signs. There's a lot of kids over here and over there," says Pynaker.
Wilton Street is mainly a residential area, but visually with no posted speed limit signs, residents say that's something they want to see changed.
"There needs to be a speed zone or something that says slow down children at play," says Pynaker.
Resident Linda Howard agrees.
"Kids ride up and down the street on their four-wheelers and bikes. The cars just come speeding down the road. Cars don't even stop at the stop sign over there, they just go right on through it," says Howard.
Residents say they've made complaints to the city, but so far, no changes have been made.
