After a big controversy last year, Auburn University's Student Government Association has renamed its "Holiday Tree Lighting" ceremony. It will now be known as "Holiday Celebration Featuring the Lighting of the Christmas Tree."
SGA members held two forums over the last year on the new name, and they feel like this will appeal to all groups. A peace candle will also be lit for other religions, and a menorah will be lit for those of the Jewish faith. The lighting takes place at 5:30 p.m. CST, November 30, on Samford Lawn.
