Great American Toy Test

Thousands of new toys come out every year, thousands more have been favorites for decades. How do you choose?

We put the toys to the test.  It's called the Great American Toy Test.  Children from Columbus and around the country are chosen to play to their heart's content, and we watch what they're playing with.

This year, toy manufacturers submitted 4200 toys, worth well over $100,000, to 75 daycare centers and schools in 45 cities.

Kids 2 years to 12 years-old played with the toys for three weeks while their teachers and supervisors observed.

The toys were graded by the adults and kids on these criteria: quality, durability, ease of assembly, maintenance, short-term interest, long-term interest, educational value, safety and just plain old fun.
