COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - While many Georgia fans took the short trip up to Atlanta to see their team compete in the Capital One Bowl, some die-hard fans stayed in Columbus to root for the Bulldogs. News Leader Nine caught up with a few fans who were spending their New Year's Day counting down to a hopeful win.

While most people are recovering at home from their New Year's Eve celebrations, a few Columbus residents chose to spend the day heading back to the bar.

Life-long Bulldog fan, Tommy Darsey said, "Just came out to have a good time and enjoy with my buddies the last football game of the year that Georgia's playing in and we're glad to be in the Capital One Bowl."

Allan Johnston, a fan for seven years, agreed, "Its good. I'm glad we got picked for the Capital One Bowl. It's going to be a good match-up."

They may cheer for the same team, but they all have different ideas of how the final score will turn out.

"I think Georgia will pull through. I mean, it's not looking good now, but they're going to come back and show their true colors," Jeremy Bailey told News Leader Nine.

David Kannady predicted, "Georgia will win 21 to 14."

So whether Georgia wins the game or the Bulldogs don't quite pull through, these fans for life still rooted for their favorite team on New Year's Day.
