Right now in the tropics we have strong Hurricane Sam along with Tropical Storm Victor. Neither of these storms pose any threat to land and will stay over water, but with the formation of Victor we are now only one name away from running out of 2021 Atlantic Hurricane Season names!

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - A stormy early week is in store for much of the Valley as Tropical Storm Fred approaches form the south. Monday morning should not feature any problems other than a few scattered showers, it will become breezy into the afternoon with showers/storms spreading northward into the area by late afternoon.
Fred has been interacting with land for the past few days, and that has caused it to lose its strength and organization. Saturday morning, Fred lost its closed center of circulation therefore losing its status of “Tropical Depression”. Winds are still sustained at 35 mph.
Fred weakened to a Tropical Depression last night while interacting with the Dominican Republic and Haiti. As of this afternoon, Fred is still a Tropical Depression with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph.
