ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Four people were injured Sunday when a tree came crashing down during a severe thunderstorm at Six Flags Over Georgia, according to park officials.

The incident happened near the park’s entrance in a walkway to the parking lot, according to the Cobb County Fire Department.

Cobb County Police say two of the four injured were juveniles.

Patricia Lockhart traveled to Six Flags Over Georgia on Sunday from Alabama to celebrate her son’s 13th birthday.

“The conditions got very dark, very quickly,” Lockhart said. “It really felt like you were in a small tornado.”

Lockhart, her son, and his friend all ran to her car in the parking lot to seek shelter around 7 p.m. Once the storm passed, Lockhart says there was debris everywhere.

“There was somebody laying on the ground. (First responders) were definitely treating that person and there were others that had cuts and bruises, and they were sitting on the sidewalk. And it appeared there was somebody still under the tree at that point as well,” Lockhart said.

Cobb County Police say the two juvenile victims were rushed to a hospital. One lost consciousness. The other was treated for severe arm injuries.
