Special surprise for Shades Valley High School graduate who designed, sewed prom dress inspired by Princess Tiana

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - A graduate of Shades Valley High School will soon be headed to the most magical place on earth, Disney World.

Layla Hildreth designed and sewed her prom dress to look just like the Disney character, Princess Tiana.

The dress got a lot of national attention, including the folks at Disney. Layla got a surprise phone call from them.

“I am going to Disney guys! I get to see the premier before Disney Bayou opens. I get to see Tiana and go to a few parties and spend time with my family and all expenses paid,” said Layla.

She said she got her first sewing machine was she was just 12-years-old and taught herself how to sew.

Disney’s new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is scheduled to open in the Magic Kingdom June 28.
