(CNN) - X’s artificial intelligence chatbot Grok is pushing antisemitic tropes in its responses to some users.

On Tuesday, the chatbot spread several antisemitic tropes when asked about an X account with a name it identified as being “Ashkenazi Jewish.” That account stirred controversy with offensive online comments about the victims of the recent Texas floods.

The chatbot also invoked antisemitic tropes in unrelated replies and praised Adolf Hitler.

The Anti-Defamation League, which works to combat antisemitism, called Grok’s responses “irresponsible, dangerous and antisemitic, plain and simple.”

“This supercharging of extremist rhetoric will only amplify and encourage the antisemitism that is already surging on X and many other platforms,” wrote the organization on social media.

Those at xAI, the people behind the Grok account, said in a post on X they are “actively working to remove the inappropriate post.”

“Since being made aware of the content, xAI has taken action to ban hate speech before Grok posts on X,” the post read.

So far, there has been no word from representatives for Elon Musk, the owner of X, on the issues with Grok.

Musk previously said he would rebuild the chatbot because he was unsatisfied with some of its replies that he viewed as too politically correct.
